A deep affinity with nature
...I now work mainly with Watercolour, Soft Pastel and Acrylic and nature is my inspiration.
For as long as I remember I have felt a deep affinity with the natural world and the changes brought by the seasons. Being close to the earth is therapeutic for me and everywhere we have lived I have made a garden. To see the miracle of growth up close is continually inspiring.
My work always begins with drawing, and I find increasingly it is inspired by what I experience or collect on walks. Whatever my inspiration my challenge is to find and express the soul of it.
...Anne Taylor was born in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland and now lives in Scotland.
She studied Art and Design in Manchester (1969 – 1974) graduating with a BA Hons in Fashion Textiles and in 1975 a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design (University of
Manchester).
In 1975 she began teaching Art and Design and Creative Textiles in the first of two Manchester Secondary schools and took on an additional pastoral role as a Deputy Head of Year. Thus began an extensive and rewarding teaching career which took her from some of the most socially deprived areas of Manchester to a post as Senior Teacher and later Assistant Principal in a growing Community College in Devon. After completing her National Professional Qualification for Headship, she gained a post as Deputy Principal at a Community College in Somerset from which she retired in 2010.
Retiring to France with her husband they made their UK base in Fife moving two years later to a cottage in Kinross-shire. After ten years living part time in France, they returned to Scotland full time in 2020 just before the Covid pandemic struck.
